Monday and Wednesday at Assembly

ree

El Paso is a unique community heavily influenced by both American and Mexican Cultures due to its position as a border town, nestled in a mountain pass created by the Rio Grande River in the high-elevation Chihuahuan Desert, and its history as part of the  American SouthwestSpanish America and Mexico

This has created an equally unique challenge for ministry.  We will be meeting with and learning of and from three of the local organizations working to provide for the needs of the people in this extraordinary community: The Tres Rios Border Foundation https://www.tresriosborderfoundation.org/home, Abara https://abara.org/, and Project Vida https://www.pvida.net/.

On Wednesday Morning we are providing you with your choice of four opportunities:

A Walk to Juarez - Using the walking bridge, you will go in small groups with a host to visit Ciudad Juarez. Once there you will visit the square, the market, and stop for food or coffee. You will witness and experience what it is like to cross. A non-expired passport is required and walking will be the manner of travel

Volunteer at Kelly Hunger Services -  up to 15 people can assist at the largest food distribution site in El Paso. Gain knowledge of how the distribution flows here, the services they offer and interact with neighbors from the city.

Tour the Holocaust Museum - Attend a guided tour with connections to history, El Paso, and the world.  The only completely bilingual Holocaust Museum.                              https://elpasoholocaustmuseum.org/

Tour the Mexican American Cultural Center -  Participate in a guided tour and activity at one of the newest cultural centers in El Paso. https://www.epmacc.org/
